by Digital Passport Being able to process several things simultaneously in a media-rich world can be a real skill. When kids are constantly being interrupted by IMs, phone calls, and texts, multitasking can help them keep many balls in the air at once without dropping them. But it’s also easy for kids to slip into habits with cell phones that put their safety, well-being, and reputation at risk.

Students that multitasking with a cell phone not only can put their safety at risk, as the commercial showed, but it also can annoy people around them. Cell phones can distract people from other important tasks.

FUTURE TOPICS
CYBERBULLYING: Students make choices about what to do if they or their friends are cyberbullied. They are encouraged to "evolve" into an “Upstander” – someone who takes action to stop cyberbullying, rather than standing by.
PRIVACY: Students evaluate examples of online messages. They decide what information is appropriate to share and when. Students are also reminded that nothing is truly "private" or "erasable" online.
SEARCH: Students practice identifying multiple, descriptive keywords to help narrow their online searches.
CREATIVE CREDITS: Students create their own mashup and learn to give proper credit for artists whose work they remix.
2nd Trimester

DUE TO BE ANNOUNCED: Student will need 15-20 pictures during your computer class. We will use them to learn how to use iMovie. Find a theme for these pictures (i.e. vacation trip, 2nd grade communion, party, cruise, recital, sports/game, or showing you growing up).

Course 4 is designed for students who have taken Courses 2 and 3.
